An Approach on What Professionalism of Art Therapists and Education for Art Therapists-especially as Practician

Abstract
This study was conducted with 10 art therapists recommended by professional therapists. Through in-depth interviewing and artefact analysis for what is professionalism of art therapist. And what is the direction of art therapist education. This study was carried out by qualitative methods. Professionalism of art therapists is summarized as four topics. First, professionals of art therapists have the ability to use art for diagnosis and therapy. Second, they emphasize ontological formation of relationships based on conversation. Third, they come to maturity by self-analysis, awareness and acceptance. Fourth, they practice caring based understanding. The professionalism of art therapists do not separate between knowledge and practice. It is a practical knowledge that consists of dialogue, inquiry and reflection with situations in the field of art therapy. The direction of educating for art therapists as a practitioner should be practiced through reflective practice. This study was aimed to make an understanding of professionalism with art therapists to present basic data for training and education. Training and education can be used for beginner expert art therapists to develop their professional ability and for searching for their professional identity.
